Hey everybody! Last night was AWESOME! I feel really good about how things went… things went smoothly & efficiently. In the studio, were Matt Bell, Bill, & myself. I think having Bill there made a lot of difference! If you’ve ever hung out with Bill, you’ll know what I’m taking about! He keeps things pretty lively… crackin’ jokes, making weird noises, etc. It really kept my mind freed up so I wasn’t concentrating so hard. I was just having fun! I guess that’s what it’s all about anyway… and I thank the good guy upstairs for the reminder!
For the first time on this album, I got out the old Charvel guitar. That baby has an awesome rhythm tone! I also did something else that I normally don’t do… I plugged it into a Mesa Boogie amp for a second rhythm tone on “That One Song”. The two guitar tones (70%
I also ran through the rhythms for “Light the Dark”. I have gone through this song over & over because, I’m not willing to compromise how it sounds. It’s an emotional song for Bill & I want to do my very best on it for him. I want to be completely satisfied with how the guitar fits the overall song. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing… Attention to detail is very important. It separates the “ok” albums from the “incredible” albums. We’re shooting for the “incredible” status… whether we make it there or not!! LOL!! We’re putting everything we have into this album for your listening!
“Peace in the East” went really well also! Got the rhythms doubled up using my favorite basic tone (
Also, redid the solo to “Smoke & Mirrors”. Really happy with it now… The other one was “ok”, but I was more into it this time & the vibe was there. Side by side, there really is a noticeable difference!
A lot of other things went on as well… mostly minor things… but I think I’ve captured the main points for this entry. Tomorrow night (Wed. 16) will, hopefully, be just as productive! I’ll let ya know!
